MUSEUM EDUCATOR
Status: 40 hours per week, Tuesday through Saturday, occasional weekends/evenings
Compensation: $18 - $22 per hour

Reporting to: Associate Director of Education
General Description:
Santa Fe Children's Museum is looking for fun-loving, positive-thinking individuals with
experience working with children ages 0-10 years to provide engaging hands-on
activities for our guests. The Museum Educator will perform a number of tasks for the
education department, including preparing for and participating in special events,
camps, and general programming.
Supervision Received:
Works under the general direction of the Associate Director of Education with support
from the Education Team.
Essential Functions: The list of essential functions is intended to be representative of
the tasks performed. The omission of an essential function does not preclude
management from assigning duties not listed.
● Positively engage and interact with children through play at scheduled programs,
including but not limited to the following:
○ Wee Wednesday
○ Seeds & Sprouts
○ Thursdays Are Yours
○ Pajama Storytime (offsite)
○ Fine Art Friday
○ Science Saturday
○ Community partner early access hours
○ Many Mothers outreach (offsite)
● Facilitate pop-up activities throughout the Museum during high attendance hours.
● Assist guests by providing pertinent information regarding the Museum's mission,
exhibits, programs, and services.
● Sets up and cleans up program activities and exhibit spaces (e.g. Make & Take).
● Support visiting educators and special guests, including the documentation of
programming.
● Assist with drop-off programming (e.g. camp, Kids Night Out).
● Assist with the organization of program materials, including physical supplies,
storage organization, digital files, physical records, and calendars.
● Create Grab’n’Go kits.
● Complete outreach requests as needed, including Van of Enchantment visits.
● Attend staff meetings and training.
● Stay current on Museum policies, programs, and special events.
● As needed, assist with any other special events (e.g. Bricks & Brew, Backyard
Summer Concert Series).
● Must be flexible with work schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends,
and holidays.
● Support Museum floor staff as needed.
● Other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent, and experience working with children ages 0-12 in
classrooms, museums, recreational settings, and/or after-school programs. A.A. or B.A.
is preferred. Bilingual a plus.
Additional Requirements:

Knowledge and experience working with children aged 0-12.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Interest in education following an informal, inquiry-based process.
Must submit to and pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
Physical Demands/ Work Environment:
Ability to lift, carry and otherwise move up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
Ability to utilize computer equipment to complete daily work responsibilities.
Ability to operate fax/copy machines, telephone, calculator and general office
equipment.
Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, climb or walk for various lengths of
time throughout the day.
