Donor and Community Relations Specialist
Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Compensation: $25 per hour
Status: Part-Time, 25 hours per week, Non-Exempt
Reports to: VP of Donor and Community Relations
Esperanza Shelter is seeking a dynamic Donor and Community Relations Specialist to support our development team with fundraising, marketing, and donor engagement activities. In this role, you'll manage donor data and reporting, coordinate social media content, prepare materials for donors and prospects, and represent the organization at community events throughout Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico.

Essential Functions
- Learns and applies a trauma-informed approach to the organization's marketing and fundraising efforts
- Maintains and updates database software with donor activities, runs reports
- Attends community events on behalf of Esperanza Shelter to create awareness for domestic violence and Esperanza Shelter services
- Assists with donor events and fundraising activities, including event logistics, custom mailings, meeting preparation, and budget tracking
- Helps identify, grow and maintain community, corporate and individual relationships
- Assists with donor communications including newsletters, annual appeals and annual report
- Coordinates and tracks donor recognition and benefits program to ensure proper listing in communication materials
- Develops and maintains a coordinated community outreach plan for event participation throughout Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico to help increase education around domestic violence awareness and prevention
- Supports the development team with general administrative tasks and special projects as needed
- Assists with donor cultivation efforts including phone calls, handwritten thank you cards and other initiatives
- Maintains marketing and event files and prepares required reports for Board and other organizations
- Occasional regional travel within Northern New Mexico
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree in marketing, business administration or other related discipline; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Two years of professional experience in marketing, fundraising, donor relations, or a related field
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work occasional non-traditional office hours, including evenings and weekends (1-3 times per month)
- Valid New Mexico driver's license and current auto insurance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (in person, by phone, and digitally)
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with donors, community members, and colleagues
- Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Ability to work on various tasks simultaneously and prioritize tasks
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and comfortable learning new software
- Experience with data entry systems and reporting; ability to create reports and spreadsheets
- Comfortable with technology tools including social media platforms, email platforms, and donor databases
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:
- 1+ year experience with domestic violence programs/services or similar nonprofit program
- 1+ year experience with donor relations, gift solicitations, planning large-scale events, and/or campaign management
- Proficiency in Bloomerang CRM or similar database CRM system
- Experience with public speaking
- Fluent in Spanish (speak, read and write)
