Esperanza Shelter is seeking a VP of Donor and Community Relations to lead our development, marketing, and community engagement efforts. As our VP of Donor and Community Relations, you'll oversee donor relations, marketing, communications, and community engagement, including our Men Against Domestic Violence initiative, driving strategic fundraising and awareness campaigns that directly support survivors of domestic violence. This is a full-time, in-person role Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility for off-hour events. We're located in the Siler-Rufina District of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Vice President of Donor and Community Relations
Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico

POSITION SUMMARY

The VP of Donor and Community Relations oversees donor relations, marketing, communications, and community engagement, including our Men Against Domestic Violence initiative.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides professional and friendly customer service at all times
  • Handles sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Development and execution of a holistic marketing plan that addresses three key elements: Development and Fundraising (donor and funder), Marketing and Communications, and Community Engagement and Outreach
  • Oversees fundraisers, appeals, recognition, and bi-monthly digital newsletter
  • Positions the organization to promote community awareness at a local, state, and national level. Develops and implements the annual report, including communications and marketing on various social media platforms
  • Creates a calendar and engagement plan for community, state, and national events
  • Creates awareness around domestic violence and Esperanza's services within schools, houses of worship, and the broader community
  • Builds new and maintains current relationships with other service providers, national, state, and local agencies
  • Evaluates and monitors development, marketing, and communication operations regularly for cost effectiveness and quality of work
  • Creates, implements, and executes an annual Development Plan, including detailed financial goals for each area relative to the prior year and specific plans to achieve these goals
  • Creates an annual detailed Marketing Plan, inclusive of all relevant areas of print, digital, and social media, to raise awareness of Esperanza Shelter's services and increase donor dollars
  • Collaborates with leadership/the leadership team on agency efforts and ideas
  • Designs and implements growth and retention strategies with existing donors and opportunities to forge new donor relationships
  • Manages and engages the Development Team to enhance the agency's visibility
  • Demonstrates empathy, respect, and care when working with stakeholders
  • Maintains focus on core responsibilities while identifying strategic opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration
  • Performs other duties as needed

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Marketing, or Finance or related field from an accredited institution and four years fundraising experience with a focus on major gifts and at least two years of experience in non-profit fundraising or eight (8) years of fundraising experience with a focus on major gifts and at least two years of experience in non-profit fundraising can be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement
  • Master's degree in business administration preferred
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated successful sales experience and the ability to build a strong network.
  • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members, and other volunteers
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and general computer skills
  • Must possess a valid NM Driver's License
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Ten years OF work experience in various marketing roles, preferably in nonprofit agencies
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Written communications – able to write clearly and complete required reports with good grammar
  • Technologically savvy with intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, contractors, donors, participants, supervisors, employees, and coworkers

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Fluent in speaking, writing, and reading Spanish
  • Familiarity with Bloomerang
  • Prefer a high level of familiarity with Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico
  • Successfully managed and raised $500,000 - $1,000,000 in fundraising campaigns
  • Be able to work independently and make sound judgments
